PROPOSALS FOR A LATIN AMERICAN GEOPOETRY
The Uruguayan writer Fernando Ainsa explains in this essay the importance that has had the word in the construction of the Latin American identity. According to Ainsa, the taking of possession for the word of the innominated space, the appropriation of the moles for the logos, it has meant a difficult and unconcluded learning whose representations have been many traumatic times, although thanks to this process they left making intelligible the concepts that allowed the setting of the New World in perspective and the invitation to found an authentic Latin American geopoetry.
DYNAMICS OF THE CULTURE IN CENTRAL AMERICA
Rafael Cuevas Molina, Guatemalan investigator who lives in Costa Rica, develops in this work an approach to the culture of Central America, a model of plurality and sincretism from his origins in the prehispanic cultures, the impact of the conquest and the European colonization, and the transplant of the African cultures to the Atlantic coast of the isthmus. The dynamics of this culture has multiple dimensions that are marked by its geographical situation, its historical past, its proximity with United States of America and its condition of small and poor countries.
THE SECRET OF THE COLÓN BROTHERS
Recent discoveries and reinterpretations of the four trips to the New World carried out by Cristóbal and Bartolomé Colón have cleared many incognito on the reasons that take them to the end and the cartographic information with which they counted, tells us in this rehearsal the Colombian historian Gustavo Vargas Martínez. His thesis sustains that the Columbus knew the Portuguese secrets from the route to China, included the medieval maps elaborated with the Chinese marines' information, and that they hid this information for the fear of appearing as usurpers.
ANNOTATIONS TO “THE DINOSAUR”'
In this brief essay, the Mexican scientist and literary critic Lauro Zavala, intends an analytic reading of each one of the seven words of the most representative minifiction in the literary tradition of Latin America, “The dinosaur”, of the Guatemalan writer Augusto Monterroso. They condense great part of the observations pointed out by those who have studied the text from their original publication, in 1959. Zavala published the anthological volume four years ago, The logged dinosaur, where it gathered diverse studies and texts written starting from this minifiction.

THREE TITANS OF LATINAMERICAN GRAPHIC ARTS
To commemorate the death in 2004 of three great Latin American masters of the plastic arts —the Puerto Rican Lorenzo Homar and the Mexicans Alfredo Zalce and Alberto Beltrán—, the art historian and Puerto Rican painter Juan David Cupeles, has written this essay which dates from the time of his meetings in the Taller de la Gráfica Popular and the Liga de Escritores y Artistas Revolucionarios, in Mexico's turbulent period of the 1930s. In particular, he highlights its important work in taking the development of the graphic arts to its highest levels in America
